Section 2: How to find information relevant to you from across the University
Careers, Sports, Counseling, Disability support, Correspondence, Lectures…. The list of information that you may need while studying with us is extensive, so we have created the following video which will guide you through how to find the information you need, when you need it. This section is broadly split into 3 sections: My Manchester, Email and Blackboard. The video below explains more.
Additional Top Tips
- Keep an eye on My Manchester and your email account regularly for up-to-date information on campus.
- Take an hour to review everything available to you in My Manchester.
Section 3: University wide tools for online learning
Now that you know your online and other learning resources are primarily delivered to you via Blackboard, this next section gives you a tour of the system. This section won’t cover everything, but will be enough to get you started with both Blackboard and the other tools that you will encounter often in your studies this year.
Additional Top Tips
- Find yourself a nice image or two that you may wish to use in online meetings in some services like Zoom or Teams, to allow you more privacy at home.
- When completing online assessments or assignment submissions in Blackboard, you have the opportunity to “Save as Draft” and return later. If you decide to do this, make sure you remember to return and click “Submit” or no work will be submitted!
- When completing uploads of essays into TurnItIn, always take a copy of your Submission confirmation (and ID) while you are submitting.
- If you have a technical problem with a Blackboard course, click “Technical Support” in the left hand menu and follow the instructions to get help.
